What is tree stump grinding?Stump grinding involves the removal of tree stumps to a specified depth usually 150 mm-300 mm. Using our specialist equipment with carbine tipped teeth attached to a large rotating wheel with teeth attached at different angles, creates a bread knife effect. Our stump grinder will remove the stump completely preventing tree regrowth and harmful surface rot (rotting of root system will happen naturally over time deep down in the soil). Our stump grinder will leave behind a hole which we often fill with the mulch left behind from stump grinding, we can also top up with topsoil/compost if required- readying bed for replanting!

Why should you use stump grinding services?

"Thanks, JDS. The team came as planned early AM. Messaging from JDS was very good, with text and email to keep me up to speed re: date, etc. We have a large, overgrown cherry tree that is spreading onto our neighbour's property. It needed to be crowned (a reduction in branch length and to preserve the tree's integrity, with care taken not to stress the tree and keep the tree balanced, and smaller branches were thinned, shrubs cut back along the same bed as the tree, front privet hedge (main roadside) taken down by two feet approx 16 feet wide.
The team were all great: Jamie and his new colleague conducted an efficient survey, provided a costing on the same visit, and the team who came were great. Very responsive, ensured the job was as planned, gave me a chance to discuss on the day, and the cleanup was very good, with all removed materials taken away as planned. "JDS Trees carried out two jobs for me. Firstly, they removed a huge tree and overgrown bushes from my back garden. They then replaced two old fences with new ones in keeping with the existing fences in the area. The work was carried out expertly and professionally, and the men tidied up the area afterwards. There was only one small problem: the tree stump was larger than expected and could not be removed with the available equipment. However, the tree surgeon returned a couple of days later and removed the stump with a larger machine. Very pleased with the final result."
