This recent project was a complete garden renovation for a domestic client in the Piershill area of Edinburgh. It was a very challenging project but is a great showcase of our skills in different aspects of gardening. First off, the gardening team stepped up to strip down this included the removal of 8 tonnes of waste material made more difficult by karting all the waste through the property, which of course was time consuming!

Would you like decking, raised beds or new turf installed in your garden?Once the guys had removed the waste, next the materials had to be carried to the site again through the house. The left hand portion of the garden was to become a raised decking area to relax in with stones sorrounding for a decorative finish, and the right hand side of the garden was agreed to become a green space with turfing and raised planters installed.
To instal the decking always using high quality green treated timber, we first built the frame. The frame was wrapped in DPC to protect against damp and increase its lifespan. The frame is fastened securely to concreted posts in the ground before the topping boards were put in place. The raised bed was anchored in place first with posts fixed with concrete anchoring it in place. Then the first level of sleepers went in and were securely fastened to the anchoring posts and to each other using hidden screws (helping the aesthetics and making it easy to paint). Then each layer was built up until the desired height was reached, next the team lined the inside with Visqueen a type of plastic sheeting which will help protect the timber from rotting. Then backfilled the planter with soil, compacted the soil and backfilled again then planted it up! |
